Category Manager - IT

The Category Manager will support Indirect procurement strategies and be responsible for Category Leadership, including strategy definition and execution across the Group Projects.

While this is an initial 3 month assignment, it has potential to extend and can be based anywhere as UK wide role. We are seeking someone who will sufficiently experienced to step into a leadership role as required. The Category Manager will have responsibility for c.£80M expenditure across the Group

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define category strategies that maximise value for the business based on understanding of business needs and supply market potential
  • Build deep knowledge of the supply market within the business
  • Execution of the category strategy, including negotiating and contracting with suppliers, evaluating on-going contract and supplier performance and measuring contract compliance
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the business through a Networked Function approach
  • Execute sourcing activity on behalf of Group using strategic sourcing methodologies in order to put fit-for-purpose supply contracts in place
  • Where appropriate, supports major bid activity where there is a significant category requiremen
  • Maintain strong industry and best practice IT market knowledge 
Experience Required:
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent
  • MCIPS or equivalent professional qualifications
  • Experienced procurement practitioner with knowledge of current strategic procurement techniques and c. 10 Years in Sourcing & Procurement
  • Experience in category leadership
  • Subject matter expertise in IT & Technology Procurement
  • Proven track record of identifying and delivering procurement savings
