Human Factors Engineer
Pay: £50-60 per hour (Limited company or umbrella – outside of IR35)
Location: Plymouth, Devon
Duration: 6 months initially, 36 hours per week

Techniche are supporting a global Engineering Technology Defence contractor with a Human Factors Engineer requirement for a long term assignment on site at Plymouth.
We are seeking an experienced Human Factors (HF) engineer to provide specialist support to the developing nuclear safety case.
Experience is required on various disciplines within the HF arena, including:
- The provision of professional advice on HF assurance and performance,
- The generation of associated safety case documentation.
The HF engineer will be capable of providing professional guidance to the Safety Manager and Design Manager on all aspects of HF engineering, including issues relating to both current and future designs. This may include a requirement to provide specialist support on anthropometric and ergonomic issues.
The candidate will also be required to assist in the development and generation of the administrative measures associated with the new facility, and manage and support the production of the associated HF substantiation documentation
- The candidate should be familiar with the undertaking of both quantitative HF analysis, as well as the qualitative substantiation of the human performance aspects of the process/ system.
- The candidate will ideally have a nuclear related experience, preferably within the wider submarine enterprise and have performed at practitioner level over a number of projects.
- They should be familiar with all Relevant Good Practice (RGP) across all seven Human Factors domains (HF Engineering, Systems Safety, Health Hazard Assessments, Training, Manpower, Personnel and Organisation & Social).
- They should also have a sound working knowledge of Licensee and wider Regulatory expectations relating to HF engineering and substantiation (including performance assurance).
