EXISITING & VALID SC SECURITY CLEARANCE IS ESSENTIAL FOR THIS CONTRACT

Duration: 6 months initially

Location: Plymouth, Full-time (Monday to Friday).

NB. Initial remote start, proceeding to Plymouth offices in August/September 2020. Then full time in Plymouth.

Rate: £40-65 per hour (Limited Company, Outside of IR35)

 

Techniche are working closely with a leading Engineering Defence Contractor who require an interim Financial Director for initially a 6 month period.

This role will be based full-time in Plymouth, so any applicants must be able to live and work in Plymouth Monday to Friday (a temporary relocation is fine, there is plenty of temporary accommodation in Plymouth such as serviced apartments etc).

This role requires SC Security Clearance as at this time it is not possible to process any new applications. So exisiting and valid SC Clearance is essential. This means it must have been used or active with another company in the last 12 months (otherwise it will have invalidated).

Role Scope:

The interim Finance Director will be assignment to drive through improvements within the Finance function. The role will involve a combination of project related tasks and covering day to day operations to create capacity for the Finance Director.

Experience Required:

  • Experienced Finance professional at Financial Controller (FC) \ Finance Director (FD) level
  • Quick at getting up to speed in new situations
  • Team player
  • Comfortable dealing with a wide range of people (trades, grades, financial understanding)
  • Experience of managing improvement projects (systems and process related)
  • Experience in a complex engineering\manufacturing organisation
  • Experience in a MoD\Defence environment
  • Security cleared to SC level or above
  • CIMA Qualified or Equivalent
  • ILM Level 7 or Equivalent

 

Additional role information:

  • Deliver process, technical and business improvement using continuous improvement techniques to accelerate delivery in key business areas. Includes measuring Departmental performance and adoption of best practice by the introduction of innovative technological solutions (people, systems and technology).
  • Provide commercial and financial expertise to the other senior managers within the business, and aims to develop the culture which underpins an environment of tight budgetary control.
  • Experience in organising quarterly forecast cycle, consolidating all business unit budgets to allow overall company budget to be completed in time for reporting to group. Liaison with other Heads of Department to ensure agreement of revised forecasts, as well as working with them during the year to understand and manage variations to the revised forecast.
  • Provide commercial and financial expertise to the other senior managers within the business, and aims to develop the culture which underpins an environment of tight budgetary control.
  • Project Management. Ability to manage multiple projects with conflicting requirements – drawing on experience of service delivery as well as people skills and system knowledge to drive projects to completion.
  • Continuous Improvement. Accounting Systems and processes.
    Requires ability to analyse current service delivery mechanisms (e.g management accounts), and either through experience or through research and collaboration with finance staff, deliver improved methodologies
  • Operational Systems and processes – with an impact on finance
    Similarly requires ability to analyse operational processes which impact on financial transaction streams. Again, either through experience or through research and collaboration with operational teams, deliver improved performance.
  • Liaison and consultation with others at all levels to negotiate the introduction of new strategies/policies, changes to existing policies and procedures and, where required, to support new business transformation processes. All policies and processes are designed to be entirely scalable from end user to director level and require to cater for the needs of customers and stakeholders at all levels.
