Procurement Consultant

Duration              12 months
Rate                       £231.83 - £269.92 p/day PAYE
Location               Home based with occasional site presence required at DSG Donnington

Techniche are working with an engineering defence contractor to appoint a Procurement Consultant. You will be responsible for the Procurement of Spares, Services and/or Repair of items, enabling material availability through timely and effective sourcing to contract in accordance with Public Contracts Regulations (where applicable), delivering a high performing supply chain in terms of value for money and supply chain performance. You will achieve this through appropriate working relationships with suppliers and ensure effective supplier and contract management.

Technical Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience in a commercially focused equivalent role, within a similar operating model
  • Experience in a procurement and supply chain environment
  • Exposure to public sector contracting is desirable but not essential
  • MCIPS 5 or equivalent is desirable but not essential

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enabling material availability by providing and maintaining appropriate contract cover
  • Problem solving Procurement and Supply Chain issues to remove road blocks affecting material availability
  • Effective programme management of contracting activities to deliver contracts on-time to plan every time
  • Stakeholder management and effective integration with members of staff
  • Engagement with Customer representatives, both Army and DE&S when required
  • Working with Category Management to develop robust sourcing and contracting strategies
  • Leadership of assigned individuals
  • SAP transactions as required by the role
  • Adherence to the Defence & Security Public Contracts Regulations (DSPCR) and the Public Contracts Regulations (PCR)
  • Application of the Authority Commercial Toolkit including contracting templates
  • Provide strategic and tactical Procurement direction of assigned scope whether product, service, category or platform based
  • Presentation of contracting activities to Senior Stakeholders at Procurement Gate Review

  • Strong understanding of both strategic and operational Procurement and Supply Chain Management tools and processes
  • Commercially astute, able to interpret and manage commercial and supply chain risk
  • Negotiation skills
