Based just outside of Southampton, with excellent transport links on the M27. Techniche are working with a sector leading manufacturing company that specialise in Medical Devices.
With an established and well structured engineering team, our client are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work in their Product Design & Development Team.
The company is circa 200+ employees with state of the art technology and manufacturing facilities. As a privately owned company which has been in the same family for a number of years, it receives excellent inward investment as it continues to grow.
8.45 – 5pm, 1 hour lunch.
-Competent in Microsoft application suite
-Competent in operating own CAD workstation
-Attention to detail, articulate etc.
-Experience in designing and developing usable domestic appliances / devices; i.e. telephones, keyboards, electronic devices, home wear goods; toasters, blenders etc. Essentially devices that have plastic mouldings, PCB electronics, power adaptors, used daily by people. Must be durable, resilient, functional, comfortable, ergonomic.
It would be desirable for someone to have experience of statistical analysis & methods.
-Any industry background
-Minimum 5 years’ experience in industry. Ideally having worked at a minimum of 2 different organisations previously.
-Degree of HNC qualified
-Design & Development Engineer
-Covering the company’s entire product portfolio (range includes: hand held electronic medical devices, garments, mattresses, mechanical equipment, hand sanitation dispensers etc.)
-50% of time spent CAD designing of products which have been designed in concept by in house creative designers
-Strong Development: Specification writing, concept feasibility studies, creating concept design data
-Detailed design work. Conception design work.
-Reporting of evaluations – reporting skills. Drawing technical conclusions from their work.
-Involvement in documentation for FDA audits. Covering all aspects of the decision-making design and development process.
-The design team will be creating the product in its sketched design. This role is to be the engineer to ensure its reliable, functional, durable, noise, vibration, thermal insulation
-Responsibility will also cover the designing of custom and bespoke components that are used in the manufacture of products. Essentially creating bespoke tools that is used by the manufacturing departments.
-Full life cycle product design; From concept, development through to testing, report writing and manufacture.
-Looking for a strong engineering background with a creative flair
-Not a product designer, but an engineer who can undertake product design.
-Interested in owning the project and making the project theirs
-Not needing to be micromanaged
-Naturally keeps people informed
