Techniche Global are supporting an industry leader in Waste and Recycling to appoint an Engineering and Maintenance Manager at their materials and recycling plant in Leicester. In this role you will manage a team of 15 multi-skilled Maintenance personnel, including 2 shift supervisors.

Salary                    up to £63k per annum
Location:               Leicester- 100% onsite
Duration:               perm/full-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of all maintenance related activities to ensure they are carried out in line with the company Maintenance Strategy;
  • Management of the maintenance team to allow to the company to meet agreed KPI’s as set out in the Maintenance Strategy;
  • Assisting the management team to implement change positively, effectively managing strong and weak performance, identifying training needs and providing training and feedback through completing one to one reviews, appraisals, and coaching.
  • Management of both the Maintenance Supervisor and the MRF Maintenance Coordinator to ensure effective control of maintenance and site service sub-contractors;
  • Working closely with the operational team to deliver operational targets and drive process improvement;
  • Completion of risk assessments and work-based method statements to ensure that maintenance health and safety is of highest standard and legally compliant;
  • Maintaining open lines of communication with the MRF equipment manufacturer and other key operational suppliers;
  • Management of both the Maintenance Supervisor and MRF Maintenance Coordinator to effectively control site maintenance stock management including allocation, issuing and replenishment of stock;
  • Assisting the Management Team to ensure full compliance is met for all relevant legislations including, Health and safety at work act, Company’s accreditation to recognized integrated management systems (ISOs) and environmental standards are achieved;
  • Driving continuous improvement in maintenance related tasks, including use of root cause analysis where relevant, and to identify defect trends;
  • Monitoring Staff attendance including clocking, lateness and performance issues, to be reported to the Operations Manager;
  • Ensuring aspects of operational and noise management plans are adhered to at all times;
  • Conducting investigations in line with Disciplinary and Health & Safety policies;
  • Attend / Deliver daily team briefings;
  • Managing the supervision and support of both night and weekend shifts, ensuring consistency throughout;
  • Management of the maintenance cleaning team to ensure housekeeping of defined areas in line with company expectations;
  • Undertaking any other duties to meet on-going needs of the organisation in line with training and capabilities

Essential Skills/ personal specifications

  • Excellent Organisational Skills and Attention to Detail;
  • Minimum of three years’ experience of managing a maintenance team across multiple shifts;
  • Previous experience of working in a fast-moving maintenance environment;
  • PLC Maintenance and Fault finding
  • Good knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook and other computer-based programs;
  • Previous experience working in the waste and recycling sector beneficial;
  • Good people skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a multi-skilled workforce and direct reports;
  • Computer Literate
  • Good communication skills, written and oral
